…but he can’t get down. And mean mommy thinks it’s soo cute that i have to get a picture before rescuing him.



Now… I’ve had several people ask on facebook, or email me about my new camera…. They want a post, so here ya go…..
The Canon 5d MKII ROCKS MY WORLD!!!!! Seriously, it is one incredible piece of equipment! The high iso capabilities and the lack of noise simply BLOW ME AWAY!!! If you’re wondering what camera i shot with previously ( and still have) it was the old 5d. I purchased that camera about 2 years ago to replace my old xti. I could tell it was a great camera and had some features that were much better than the xti…. and with the price, it had better be better, right?! BUT… the jump from the 5d to the 5d mkii has oddly, been a much more noticeable jump for me! Maybe because now… 2 years more into my “hobby” i know more what i would be missing without it, I don’t know… not really sure, BUT…. I’m IN LOVE!!!!
so the above pics were taken about a month ago, before getting my mkii… I’ve taken several since then, including the last 2 posts…. but here’s one of the very first pics taken with it, just a few hours after ripping open the box.

one more thing… I’ll be leaving for sunny california in a couple of days so you probably won’t hear from me for a few weeks… but with my poor blogging habits, what else is new? Anyway… I have 5 sessions scheduled for while I’m there, and lots of fun planned for the kids and I, so look for some fun posts when i return!

and would you like to know who my photographer is?…. well my friends, it’s me! and I’ll tell you why….
Our last family picture was taken almost 6 years ago… 2 kids ago… and before the age of me knowing what an SLR was. Since owning my own SLR and running my own photography business, I’ve managed to come up with any excuse possible to NOT be on the other side of the camera. Anything from being pregnant, to not pregnant but still fat, to not having the right clothes, to needing a haircut…. and yes… many of those still might be true for this picture(not the “being pregnant” part – i promise!), but i still went through with it – and i’m proud of that.
For mother’s day, Cliff bought me this pretty green settee that not only looks perfect in my living room, but had soooo much potential for photographs. I really wanted to be able to use it in an alley or a big field, but it really wasn’t going to fit as well as I had planned in the back of our sequoia. HOWEVER…. A few weeks ago, while I was in Mesa, the sequoia got hit while parked in the walmart parking lot. Some kid left his car in neutral and ran into walmart. As soon as the car “holding it in place” left, his car rolled across the parking lot into ours. Nice, right?!? Anyway… We took it into the shop last week to get fixed and the rental car company showed up with a pick-up for us to use. Hmmmm… it must’ve been fate that I ended up with a car to fit my pretty settee in, during a week of nice weather, right?! So without a photog handy, I through some outfits together, had cliff help me shimmy the settee into the back of the pickup, grabbed my tripod and remote and we headed off – 4wheelin’ to the best place I knew of for this shoot. It wasn’t the most pleasant shoot of my short photography career, but the craziness of it all was worth it. I now have a picture that’s worth hanging on my wall that my husband, 4 children and ME are all in together! It may not be the best, but it’s us… ALL OF US!

(and don’t be surprised if you get a christmas card from me in a few months with this picture on it… i don’t see us getting another one any time soon.

I didn’t get much time with her, but the few minutes I had were fabulous. She said that she felt more comfortable on my side of the camera.. but you tell me… Does she not belong right where she is…looking back at me with those big beautiful blue eyes!?!?
